CODAF Questions Ughelli North Newly Inaugurated Flood Committee In Ughelli North Without Security Inclusion

THE executive director of Community Development Advocacy Foundation, CODAF, Mr Benin Richard, has called on Ughelli North Local Government Council Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo to review the newly inaugurated flood committee as he questioned the non inclusion of security measures towards flood victims.
He made this call while reacting to the recent inauguration of flood committee members set up by the council Chairman without the inclusion of security measures.
According to him, “I commend your swift action in inaugurating a flood control committee to address the perennial flood issues in our local government area, which have caused significant socio-economic impacts on our communities.
“This proactive step demonstrates your commitment to the well-being and safety of our residents.
“However, I suggest that the committee’s composition should be reviewed to include a security component, ensuring a comprehensive approach to flood control and management
“This was a major concern raised by concerned citizens as that will provide valuable guidance in addressing the environmental, security and social implications of flooding.
“Your expertise and dedication are crucial in developing effective strategies to mitigate flood disasters and we charge you to be proactive in carrying out your responsibilities, engaging with local stakeholders, and leveraging resources to protect our communities.
“As you embark on this critical task, consider the National Erosion and Flood Control Action Plan Committee’s recommendations and the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) for Ughelli.”
